Review of the Grievance and Redress Mechanism of the Garamba National Park, DRC
In March 2024, we supported the review of the grievance and redress mechanism in the Garamba National Park - Eastern DRC. This was conducted in close collaboration with African Parks and the National Congolese Institute for Nature Conservation (ICCN).
Development of the IUCN MOOC on Human Rights and Conservation
The Protection LAB is currently supporting the development by the Garoua Wildlife School (EFG) of the IUCN PAPACO MOOC on Human Rights and Conservation. We are facilitating a working group composed of conservation institutions, donors and NGOs involved in the development or review of contents for the MOOC - including with an aim to sharing lessons learned and best practices in human rights compliance by rangers, social safeguards, rights-based conservation and the protection of indigenous peoples and local communities.
Participation in the Geneva Peace Week
On 30 October - 3 November, we took part to the Environment, Climate, Conflict and Peace sessions of the Geneva Peace Week 2023, with a view to reinforcing coordination and collaboration between Peacebuilding, Conservation and Human Rights actors. More on this is coming up soon !
